Description

The perennial Geranium Orion, derived from the famous Johnson's Blue, is an excellent spreading plant. It also blooms very well in a pot where the length of its stems ensures a beautiful trailing habit.

It is covered with large purplish-blue flowers from June to November, however, pruning is necessary in summer to help it reflower in autumn.

Like other perennial geraniums, it is undemanding in terms of its situation and the quality of the soil.

The perfect pairing for it: a white and blue-violet wave with Geranium sanguineum album and Geranium Splish Splash. This combination is available to purchase in our White-Blue Geranium collection ref 7377.

Planting and care

To plant your Geranium Orion, prepare the soil to a depth of 20 cubic cm, crumbling the soil well.  Add a fertiliser to the base of the hole such as bonemeal.  Position your plant, removed from its pot, by covering the top of the root ball with 3 cm (1in) of soil. Fill in the hole and water generously to eliminate any air pockets. In dry weather, it will be necessary to water regularly for a few weeks to help the plant to establish.
